Oshoin Large Administrative Chamber

|
Oshoin is assumed to have been built at the same time as Sasayama castle in 1609, used for the official functions of the federal clan for about 260 years. After the Meiji Restoration it was in danger of being demolished by a castle demolishing law. It was burned down in a fire after all although the only building preserved at the site of Sasayama Castle. But it was reconstructed at Ninomaru, the intermediate outworks of the castle on December 4, 2000 tracing back to the original.
Oshoin is very large in scale for a wooden building, equivalent to Ninomaru Palace of Nijo Castle in Kyoto. Oshoin, an exceptionally big one for a feudal load, has the classic style of architecture. In the archives attached to Oshoin, you can fully experience the romantic atmosphere of the old days such as the circumstances and the transition ever since the castle was built.
